do you need a licence to buy a tattoo kit and practise on fake tattoo skin?
i was looking into buying a starter tattoo kit to practice on the fake skin you can buy before i get an apprenticeship. i was wondering whether you needed to have a tattooing license to buy one, i don’t intend to tattoo any actual people until i have been given an apprenticeship and learned from an actual tattoo artist. i just want to practise on the fake skin, will i have to have a license?

Depends on where you buy the kit. Some retailers do require a business license or proof of a shop.
I’d still strongly recommend getting an apprenticeship before the kit. Practice skin is nothing like real skin. You may well be teaching yourself bad habits that someone is going to have to work harder for you to unlearn.
If you do decide to go ahead at least do some reading on cleanliness and standard practices. I know it’s just a piece of practice skin, but get it the habit of using gloves and cleaning your environment just as if you were dealing with a person.
If you really want something to do to practice before you get an apprenticeship then draw. Pick up pens and pencils and paint and make pictures. When you’re tired of that then pick up a cheap tattoo machine and attach it to your pencil. Draw some more. Build up your hand strength and your art skills. Those will get you a lot farther than bouncing a needle off some rubber skin.
