Thoughts on an Immaculate Heart tattoo on a spiritual albeit non-catholic?
So I am contemplating my next tattoo, a chest piece centered around an Immaculate Heart. I feel conflicted because although I am spiritual and believe in a higher power, I don’t ascribe to any one religion. My beliefs are more of a combination of many religions including Catholicism . I really love the image and symbolism but am curious what others think.
Yes, I mean the Heart of Mary. I already have (big) tattoos, so actually having ink isn’t an issue. And my hesitation isn’t because I’m not sure about the image for myself, I just don’t want to be perceived as disrespectful. I myself am still exploring my spiritual path. I was raised Catholic, but I am really drawn to goddess based religions and I guess for me the symbolism of the Immaculate Heart is powerful because it is a way that I can in a sense worship the female face of the Divine while still staying close to my “roots” because for some reason that is important to me.
