Tips on how to be a freelance artist?
I've been drawing since I was 5 years old. I consider myself to have a unique style. I've never really pursued as a career (though down the road I want a tattoo artists I've become work), but I like to do to start free had kind of a site. I will begin posting on deviantart.com, just get some more examples of my work, it is on my myspace, etc. Many people told me to continue it. I cringe a little every time I hear Deviantart as the venue for the receipt mentioned professional work. Do not get me wrong, now many talented artists, renowned in their fields Upon their work there on a fairly regular basis. The thing is, Deviantart is not their primary method of exposure. Most if not all, of the artist have their own portfolio sites they regularly with new works, contact information, media and methods, etc. Deviantart layout is for the public and not for the discerning eye of editors and directors, the art you are renting. If you really want to go pro, you get your own website is a must. It must not all be fancy. In fact, clean, easy to navigate layouts are a must for the display of professional work. You want your portfolio to the center of attention are on your side, no flashing, scrolling text in Flash created macros cat. Then try to local graphic design company and are looking to see if any of them are taking interns. While Most internships do not pay, you can not get discouraged – they are an invaluable source of experience, and they look fabulous on your resume. People are always wary of setting for the first time artists, but with a strong CV, you can overcome some prejudices. Then frequent DG Industry Forums and see what positions are available on their jobs. Cragislist is also a surprisingly good source for freelance graphic design work, how many job Websites, they should not be overlooked. You can also find local companies that do not have websites or restaurants that have poorly designed menus and logos, and offer your services for revamped their look. Really, you just keep plugging away at self-promotion. Freelancing is hard, but it can be done. Good luck!
